Song for Gaia 

 

 

O great Mother Gaia    earth    sea    air

How can you sing with our poison in your lungs?

After the flood, after the fire, after the plague

Will you breathe again in the silence?

Will the rivers and the seas swell to your great song?

Will you sing a song of hope for the birds?

Will the wild animals lift their heads from the darkness?

I hear you breathing in the ancient forest 

And try to match my steps to your breath
